All great deserts start with, "It was a cold winter's day". It really was a cold winter's day and I had some apples and puff pastry so I threw them together into this super easy and super yummy apple tart. Perfect when you need a quick fix or have unexpected guests!
INGREDIENTS:
2 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced in 1/8" slices
1 sheet of puff pastry
1/2 cup + 2 Tbs sugar
8oz whipped cream cheese
1 egg
1 tsp lemon juice
1.5 tsp Spice Tree Organics Chai Confection Blend
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
2 Tbs slivered almonds
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 400F
In a bowl toss the sliced apples with the lemon juice, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1/2 tsp Chai Confection blend.
Using a stand or hand mixer whip the cream cheese, egg, vanilla extract, remaining sugar, and remaining Chai Confection blend.
Cover a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Unroll the puff pastry sheet onto the cookie sheet. Using the prongs of a fork poke holes all over the puff pastry leaving a 1 inch border all the way around. Cover the pastry the pastry with the cream cheese mixture leaving a 1 inch border all the way around. Cover the cream cheese mixture with the sliced apples. Sprinkle the slivered almonds on top of the apple.
Bake for approximately 20 minutes or until pastry puffs and lightly browns.
